Our Thoughts on Infusionsoft

With over 25,000 customers, Infusionsoft is one of the most popular marketing automation tools for small businesses. On top of this, there are over 300 apps and integrations in their marketplace, enabling you to connect Infusionsoft with a large range of tools.

Our favourite aspect of Infusionsoft is the campaign builder. Unlike other automation tools, building sequences in Infusionsoft is intuitive and almost addictive.

Infusionsoft is best suited to small businesses that already have a strong customer base and a turn over above $100,000. If you’re looking for a more cost-effective alternative, we’d recommend ActiveCampaign which has a similarly visual campaign builder, and is much (much) easier to use.

Infusionsoft's Pros and Cons

Overall, Infusionsoft is a very good piece of software with only a small number of flaws. It has one of the best user interfaces for building automation campaigns, making it easy and enjoyable to use.

Below are some of the key pros and cons with Infusionsoft. For a more in-depth overview, you can read this Infusionsoft review I wrote after helping a client migrate to Infusionsoft.

Pros

  • User interface – Infusionsoft has one of the best-designed user interfaces in the marketing automation industry. Their visual campaign builder makes crafting even the most complex of nurturing sequences both fun and intuitive.
  • Great integration & API – Thanks to  a combination of over 300+ apps in the Infusionsoft Marketplace, their API, and their Zapier integration, you can connect Infusionsoft to hundreds of third-party tools.
  • Great support & training – Infusionsoft receives a lot of praise for the quality of their customer service.
  • Scalability – Infusionsoft uses universal tracking, which makes it easy to keep track of a contact’s behaviour across multiple marketing channels.
  • Built-in shopping cart / eCommerce – Infusionsoft are one of the only marketing automation tools that offer order forms, payment processing, fulfilment, and inventory tracking directly within the tool.

Cons

  • Kickstart fee – Infusionsoft charge a one-off mandatory kickstart fee of $1999. While it’s useful to have an Infusionsoft consultant help you setup your first few campaigns, this initial fee puts some customers off.
  • No native integrations – Infusionsoft doesn’t have any native integrations with third-party tools. While they do have a marketplace with over 300 apps and extensions, many of these require an additional ongoing cost.
  • Deliverability rates – While Infusionsoft claims to have deliverability rates above 98%, we have seen several user tests showing that Infusionsoft’s deliverability isn’t as good as some other tools. On top of this, some tools allow you to setup dedicated IP addresses for sending emails, which is not a function offered by Infusionsoft.

Infusionsoft Integrations

Infusionsoft’s marketplace has over 300 apps that enable you to integrate Infusionsoft with a variety of tools. Infusionsoft also has a Zapier integration and an extensive API, allowing you to build your own integrations.

Alternatives to Infusionsoft

Ontraport is a great alternative to Infusionsoft, and is particular popular among bloggers, coaches, and other businesses that are heavily focused around selling information products, or communicating with large mailing lists.

Marketo is a suitable automation tool for mid-market B2B and B2C marketers. While more expensive than Infusionsoft (their pricing starts at $895/month), their platform is worth considering if Infusionsoft isn’t a good fit.

ActiveCampaign logo

Starting at $9 per month, ActiveCampaign are by far the most cost-effective marketing automation tool out there, as well as being one of the best-designed all-in-one marketing automation, email marketing & CRM tools. We use them, and highly recommend them!
